"Stand your ground law" in
Massachusetts
"I do see
how a lot of people could cheer it (assaulting a burglary suspect
outside the home). But, outside? In every way it's in
violation."
MBA Criminal Justice
Section Vice Chair Peter Elikann, Worcester Telegram & Gazette,
October 8
Elikann was quoted in the T&G in a story involving
a home invasion in Warren, MA. Massachusetts General Law Chapter
278 Section 8A states that residents can defend themselves inside
their home only if they feel "great bodily injury or death" may be
inflicted upon them. "You have to have a reasonable belief that you
are going to be hurt or killed," noted Elikann.
