Notable & Quotable

Court funding

Healy for Notable

"They can't absorb [550 layoffs]. You've got the courts at their breaking point."

MBA Chief Legal Counsel and Chief Operating Officer Martin W. Healy, Boston Business Journal, March 5, 2015

Healy was quoted in a BBJ story about possible cuts to court funding under Governor Charlie Baker's recently released budget proposal. The trial courts estimate that they could be forced to lay off hundreds of employees under the current proposal.

MBTA reimbursement

"This doesn't preclude anybody from going after the MBTA on their own whether it's a class action suit or not."

MBA Criminal Justice Section Vice Chair Peter Elikann, FOX 25, March 11

Elikann spoke to FOX 25 as part of a story on the MBTA's plan to compensate riders for canceled and delayed trains caused by winter storms. Cash riders can ride for free on April 24 and monthly pass holders will receive a 15 percent discount for the month of May.

Of note:

  • In addition to the clip mentioned above, MBA Chief Legal Counsel and Chief Operating Officer Martin W. Healy was quoted by Metro Boston in a profile piece about noted Boston criminal defense attorney Anthony Cardinale. "I don't think there's any other attorney I've met locally that matches his skill sets," said Healy. ("Anthony Cardinale talks Whitey, Gotti and the FBI" - March 9).
