MBA’s Fee Arbitration Board (FAB)
The Massachusetts Bar Association’s Fee Arbitration Board (FAB) program provides voluntary binding arbitration to resolve fee disputes between attorneys and their clients and between attorneys.
Fee arbitration is an ideal alternative to the Small Claims, District or Superior courts. This confidential process has only one objective: to decide what is the fair and reasonable value of the attorney's legal services. The FAB cannot and will not make rulings about the behavior or ethics of the attorney.
The FAB also serves as a resource for both attorneys and clients by providing answers to questions regarding legal fees, by publishing model fee agreements and by presenting programs that promote healthy communications between attorneys and clients with regard to their professional relationship.
