The program sought to clarify the nature and availability of drug screening within the court system. Attendees will learn how to understand, interpret and use drug screening results to litigate family law matters and seek the best interest of children. The panel will discuss:

  • Deficiencies in court orders
  • Types of testing available through the court
  • Deficits and benefits to each type of testing
  • Testing offered at the courts versus outside facilities
  • Concerns for outside testing facilities not controlled by the court
  • Access to results
  • What can be concluded based on testing results and possible misunderstanding of issues
  • Safety of the child
  • Compassion for the person with the disorder and how that relates to family law
  • Misuse of prescription medication
  • Marijuana use and the effect of use in parenting time
