MBA celebrates successes of volunteer leaders
A celebratory dinner was held June 16 at Legal Sea Foods in
Boston for the MBA's volunteer leaders.
"This evening is a 'thank you' for all of you," said MBA
President Valerie A. Yarashus, who presented a public service award
to Civil Litigation Section Council Co-Chair Kimberly Y. Jones, and
four special awards to volunteers for their leadership in modifying
the MBA's bylaws, including Governance Chair Warren F. Fitzgerald,
bylaws drafter Mary Jo Kennedy and pro bono counsel David A. Parke
and Christopher M. Jedrey.
"Looking around, I would like to give an award to every person in
the room," said Yarashus, who began the awards presentation by
quoting President John F. Kennedy, "A nation reveals itself not
only by the people it produces but by the men it honors."
In addition, two awards were presented on behalf of the Volunteer
Recognition, Recruitment and Retention Task Force chaired by MBA
Secretary Jeffrey N. Catalano. Darrell Mook and Grace Garcia,
members of the task force, presented the awards to Fern Frolin,
lauded as an "MBA unsung hero," Timothy Dacey, for his work on the
MBA's Committee on Professional Ethics, and Robert J. Muldoon and
Jessica Kelly for their time and energy to the amicus brief filed
in support of the Real Estate Bar Association.
