Update on Amendment #126 to Chapter 524
An MBA amendment to the Senate budget (#126), filed by Senate Judiciary Chair Cynthia Stone Creem (D-Newton), has been adopted and is now in conference committee. This key amendment will postpone the effective date of Chapter 524-the "New Adopted Children's Rights Law"-of the Act of 2008 until July 1, 2020, thereby allowing more time to correct the problems associated with the newly enacted law.
