Western MA bench bar meeting

This first Bench Bar Meeting sponsored by the Juvenile and Child Welfare Law Section will be held at the Hampshire County Courthouse, 116 Russell St., Hadley and is free to all attorneys interested in the practice of Juvenile and Child Welfare.  (Directions: From the east --Mass Pike west to Exit 4 to I 91N. Take Exit 19 off of I 91. Go right at end of ramp onto Rt 9. Stay on Rt 9. Court is 1.6 miles on left.)  The topics for discussion include: Standing Order for care and protection trials; Proposal for dedicated C&P session in Hadley; Permanency hearings for children aging out; Juvenile competency after Abbott A.; School-based delinquency offenses; and additional timely issues that the bar and bench would like to address.  The panel includes: Moderator Martha Rush O'Mara, Vice Chair, Juvenile & Child Welfare Section Council; The Hon. Daniel J. Swords, first justice, Berkshire and Hampden County Juvenile Court; James Morton, Case Manager, Juvenile Court Department; The Hon. Charles S. Belsky, associate justice, Hampden County Juvenile Court; The Hon. James G. Collins, circuit justice, Juvenile Court; Christopher D. Reavey, Clerk-Magistrate, Hampshire County Juvenile Court Department.
