How to Open a Real Estate Practice

For newly admitted lawyers and for attorneys seeking to diversify or to change their practice focus, this seminar will touch on several topics which are foundation stones of a sound real estate practice.  

The topics will include:

IOLTA
An outline of the requirements for opening and maintaining a clients’ trust account.

Protection of Clients’ Personal Information  
An introduction to the Massachusetts statutes and regulations related to the protection of personal information especially in connection with mortgage loan documents.

“The List”  
A discussion of “how to get on the bank’s list” of closing attorneys and what are the requirements for opening a conveyancing account.

Title Insurance  
An explanation of the steps necessary to be able to write a title insurance policy.

Personal Information 
An introduction to the steps required under the statutes and the Attorney General's regulations to safeguard the personal information of parties especially in connection with a mortgage loan

How I Did It  
A candid discussion by a rising attorney on the experience of starting and growing a real estate practice.
