The 2008 Gala Dinner was held on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at the John J. Moakley U.S. Courthouse in Boston and featured keynote speaker Leonard L. Riskin, Chesterfield Smith Professor of Law at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, who discussed mindfulness in the law. The Gala also featured a special awards presentation including the MBA Gold Medal Award and the Chief Justice Edward F. Hennessey Award. These high honors were presented to Lee J. Gartenberg and the Hon. Christopher J. Armstrong (ret.) respectively.

The MBA is pleased to make available via YouTube, Supreme Judicial Court Chief Justice Margaret H. Marshall's annual address to the legal community. Marshall delivered her address as part of the MBA's third Annual Bench Bar Symposium held Wednesday, Oct. 22, at the John Adams Courthouse in Boston.
Marshall's address, offered for the first time to members of the bar who were unable to attend the Symposium, highlights the drastic budget challenges the court system is facing as well as the progress being made on a number of initiatives, including survey responses from attorneys, court employees and jurors.
